A Tower for Deer (Hiran Minar)..

Tower of Deer (Hiran Minar)..
Captured at Hiran Minar in Shaikhupura District, Punjab. The gate is actually entrance to a building architecture known as Baradari (it was behind me and so not in this picture). The tower is on other side of gate :). Hiran Minar was built by famous Mughal Emperor Noor-u-Deen Jahangir (1605-1627 AD), in 1607 AD in the memory of his beloved Deer ("Hiran" in Urdu/Hindi ). At this place (Old name= Jahangir Pura, New Name=Shaikhupura), emperor captured a beautiful Deer (Hiran) which then became his beloved pet. He named that Deer as Mansaraj.. Minar (Urdu/Hindi word) is called Tower in English. That tower is still there, but not in good shape. There were two more stories up, which were destroyed by time :(
